John Polychronakis has been appointed interim chief executive at Dudley Council. He takes up his post on Monday 3 November.
Mr. Polychronakis, 55, has been with the authority for the past 21 years and been director of law and property since 1992. A solicitor by profession he worked at Sefton Council as assistant director for law before moving to Dudley.
He originates from Liverpool and now lives in Stourbridge. He is married with two children and is a former president of the Association of Council Secretaries and Solicitors.
Andrew Sparke, the current chief executive, is leaving the authority at the end of this month. He is going to pursue his extended roles with national government including the Preventing Violent Extremism Taskforce and the Youth At Risk charity.
Mr. Polychronakis said:
