A major review is to be launched into the services Dudley Council, the PCT and partners provide for people with learning disabilities, who have complex needs.
The joint review will look into the commissioning of services and support by the council and the primary care trust.
It will be carried out by the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI), the Healthcare Commission and the Mental Health Act Commission for two weeks from October 13.
The review will shape the way services are commissioned in the future and will help the council and the PCT improve services for people with a learning disability. A meeting has been set up for people with learning disabilities and carers to get involved with the review. It takes place at DudleyCollege, Dudley Road, Brierley Hill, on October 16, from 11am-1pm.
The review will not be scored but it will be used by CSCI when they assess the council’s performance in 2008-2009.
