You can copy & paste text from elsewhere – say Microsoft Word – into any field or text area of a form. By composing large amounts of text before you start, form completion can be both quicker and easier. Word processing packages also provide spell check and character count features.
However:
-
Where there is a character limit, a form will see a single return between two lines of text as two additional characters. Character counts made in Microsoft Word do not include these returns.
-
Avoid bullets, single quotes and double quotes as these may translate into question marks (?) when interpreted by some forms.
-
Also avoid curly brackets, such as { }, as they cause some forms to fail when submitted.
-
Finally, vertical bars such as | are sometimes inserted accidentally when using the left-hand shift-key, again causing problems for some forms.
-
When using this feature, it is essential you retain your transaction reference and remember the password you have set. You will need both to access and continue your application.
-
We provide no support for forgotten ‘Save & Return’ transaction references or passwords.
-
The feature only saves the information on pages up to and including the page you used Save & Return. Any information entered on later pages will not be saved.
-
Do not use the following characters:
Save & Return ignores all text enclosed in single or double quotes - the text will be lost. A vertical bar prevents your completed application being submitted. Also, some special characters (usually embedded in text copied from elsewhere) may prevent stored details being successfully retrieved.
- You may use Save & Return as often as you need to complete your application, but it must be submitted by the closing date stated on the Jobs & Careers vacancy page.
- To continue an application, go to the related job summary at www.dudley.gov.uk/jobs and select Continue Online Application
- When you complete and submit your application, the partially completed version will be discarded.
- A partially completed job application is available until midnight on the vacancy closing day, or for a maximum of seven days (whichever is sooner).
Jobs & Careers Registration
-
Non-school vacancies require you register to apply, and it is essential you retain your user id and remember the password you have set as you will need both to complete or reuse your application.
-
If you entered a valid email address against your account, we provide both help for forgotten user id and password via automated website services, and office-hours support to applicants by phone and email.
-
Your registration and stored application will be removed after 6 months, if you do not update it or use it to apply for a vacancy.
