Sedgley, located close to the Wolverhampton border, is the largest centre and has a diverse mix of retail, leisure and other facilities. Although Sedgley is not a priority district centre, the Council have been involved in a number of initiatives aimed at improving the shopping area.
The Council have supported and advised the Sedgley in Bloom Group and the initiative won a merit award in the Heart of England in Bloom Awards 2006. The Council is also assisting the Sedgley Community Association with projects aimed at improving the district centre.

A survey of all the 17 local and district centres takes place on an annual basis in order to measure the performance of each centre over time and is also used to compare areas and set priorities. The statistics collected include number of vacant units in the centre, number of vacant units in the areas that fall under the protected retail frontage and diversity of uses in the centre.
