The Place Directorate is led by the three cabinet members for economic regeneration, environment and culture and transportation.
It is supported by the Executive Support Team.
The directorate employs over 1600 people to deliver over 100 diverse services that touch the lives of some 300,000 residents in the borough ranging from regeneration to refuse and regulatory services to sport and recreation. It operates from over 50 sites including halls, museums, nature reserves, crematoria, depots and leisure centres.

Integral to the directorate' s service plans is the drive to make services better and more responsive to users needs, looking at new approaches to service delivery, widening access, giving more choice and ensuring that there is a voice for all the diverse sectors of the community.
