Information for electors

Elections will take place in Dudley Metropolitan Borough on Thursday 6 May 2021

We will  be holding local elections in Dudley on Thursday 6 May 2021. There will also be elections for  West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) Mayor and Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) positions. 

You will receive three ballot papers, whether you vote at a polling station or by post or proxy vote, for you to vote for a ward councillor and your preferred candidate for WMCA Mayor and PCC.

 Local Elections

There will be one seat up for election in each of the 24 Wards, along with by-elections taking place in Kingswinford North & Wall Heath Ward following the resignation of Cllr Nicola Richards.  A by-election will also take place in Belle Vale Ward following the resignation of Cllr Jake Cooper.

Key dates for the 2021 elections

The deadline for registering to vote is Monday 19 April 2021.

The deadline for applying to vote by post is 5pm on Tuesday 20 April 2021

The deadline for appointing a proxy is 5pm on Tuesday 27 April 2021

Poll cards will be delivered from Wednesday 31 March and should reach all households by Friday 9 April

Postal ballot packs will be issued from Friday 16 April and will be delivered to all postal voters by 26 April

Information for Candidates and Election Agents

Information on standing as a candidate in local elections is available on the Electoral Commission Website.

Candidates and agents briefing sessions will beheld following the close of nominations. 

If you are able to print off a copy Nomination papers can be downloaded, if you require a printed copy to be posted out to you please telephone 01384 814740.

Completed nomination papers can be delivered to the Returning Officer, Old Crown Court, Priory Street, Dudley from Tuesday 23 March, the deadline for delivery of nomination papers is 4pm on Thursday 8 April 

Candidates and agents should also be aware of the code of practice on the display of election posters and eligible electorate figures for election expenses

Electoral Malpractice

If you have a complaint or issue about a candidate, agent or campaigner and you think that electoral malpractice has taken place you should report this online.  Completed forms should be returned to The Returning Officer, Electoral Services, Council House, Priory Road, Dudley, DY1 1HF.

Polling Stations Voting

We're working hard to ensure that all polling stations are safe and Covid-19 secure. If you would rather not vote in person, you can apply to vote by post or a proxy vote if you wish to apply for either a postal or proxy vote please do this as soon as possible.  The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Tuesday 20 April.  The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 5pm on Tuesday 27 April
