Consultation on the proposal to change the age range of pupils attending Rosewood School

Consultation on the proposal to change the age range of pupils attending Rosewood School, a maintained community special school and increase its pupil numbers.

Dudley Council has a statutory duty to provide each child in its area with a school place.  There is a need for Key Stage 2 places for children with Special Educational Needs, specifically for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH) with an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP).

Rosewood School’s official age range accommodates pupils aged 11 to 16 (Years 7-11), but the school agreed to temporarily admit some pupils who are in Year 5 and 6, on a dual registration basis.

Due to the success of this arrangement Dudley Council is proposing to make the arrangement permanent by formally increasing the school’s age range to admit pupils from Years 5 through to 11.

All responses must be received by 12th February 2021.
