The Beacon Hill Estate is situated on the northern boundary of Dudley Borough and was formed in July 1998 after some enthusiastic volunteers had received training and advice in what was involved with being part of such an organisation. In a very short space of time Beacon Hill TRA became well known by other associations, various council departments, partner organisations, local councillors, as well as its own community.
We always need more support from local people, so please come and join us. A growing number of local issues have already been addressed, or are in process of being dealt with, for example, the passage-way ‘clean ups’ with improved lighting, the MEB sub-stations has been cleaned up, complete fencing and security gate at Beacon Rise Garage Site and security systems installed in the bungalows to name but a few. The TRA received funding to convert an old garage site at the Quadrant into a secure parking area with fencing and a gate, it is hoped that this will ease some of the parking issues on the estate. If you would like to give it a try then email our Housing Manager or contact 0300 555 2345, it is a very secure place for parking with lighting.
What a difference there is for the people who rent one of the new garages at Beacon Rise, they look clean smart and tidy. There are now 26 garages and secure parking places which we must all do our best to keep looking neat and tidy, plus everyone has a key to the main gate in Beacon Rise. We would like to encourage you to please report any dumping of rubbish on this site so it can be removed.
Once again the year rolls round and it comes again to the time for our TRA to organise and participate in a litter-pick, which we hope will leave the estate looking clean and tidy, somewhere to be proud of. The group worked with Council officers our local Police team.
The day is always a huge success with many bags of rubbish being collected. There is usually a buffet after the litter pick, during which we held a raffle with some lovely prizes being won.
The TRA would like to encourage everyone to get involved in this community organised event - you'll have a great time and achieve something great!
The Princess Trust team carried out a clean-up around the base of the Beacon Tower and did a really excellent job. Some members of the TRA, with the help of the Assistant Parks Development Officer, have set up a 'Friends of Sedgley Beacon' group. This will allow the friends group to apply for funding to assist with the restoration of the tower and surrounding areas.
