The following will help you apply for a job with us – please read these hints and tips before you begin:

  • Ensure you have all the necessary information to complete your application – see the form’s Review or Preview page for key details

  • Compose large pieces of plain text elsewhere, in (say) Microsoft Word, then copy and paste into the form. This can be quicker and easier than working in the form directly, will allow you to check grammar and spelling, and also provide a backup copy of key parts of your application

  • To move between sections of the form, use the previous (or back) and forward buttons at the bottom of the section, or the visited sections list on the left, if one is provided

  • Do not use the browser’s back and forward buttons – some or all of your application may be lost and may need to be re-entered

  • Our online job application forms will not usually ‘timeout’ as they once did. However, you must be aware that internet connections are not always reliable, so use ‘Save’ or ‘Save & Return’ options at the bottom of the form whenever you make major changes to your application

  • Information entered in your application is sent via a secure connection


Registering with Dudley Jobs

  • Some applications require you register

  • Please note your user id and remember the password you set - you will need these to edit and submit your application if you do not complete it in one session

  • You can ‘Save’ your application as often you need to, but to be considered you must ‘Submit’ your application by the closing date

  • To return to your application, go to the related job summary at www.dudley.gov.uk/jobs and follow the link 'apply online'

  • We recommend you give your email address when you register – this allows you to retrieve your forgotten password or user id

  • You may edit and reuse your application for any job that requires you register

  • We will remove your application if you do not re-use or update it within 6 months


Using 'Save & Return'

  • Some applications have a ‘Save & Return’ option

  • When using this it is important you make a note of your transaction reference and the password you have set. This will be required to continue with your application

  • When you use the ‘Save & Return’ option, only the pages up to and including the page on which you use it are saved

  • You may use ‘Save & Return’ as often you need to, but to be considered you must ‘Submit’ your application by the closing date

  • To continue your application, go to the related job summary at www.dudley.gov.uk/jobs and follow the link ‘continue application’

  • When you complete and submit your application, your part-completed version will be discarded
