£5million worth of catering work up for grabs
Dudley Council’s Dudley Business First team is reminding businesses that they can apply to become a catering supplier for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
There is almost £5million worth of catering services to be tendered and with just over 500 days to go until the start of the Games, the official procurement process to find catering suppliers of all sizes is getting underway.
The procurement involves five separate opportunities to tender for catering services that will then operate at some of the venues as well as live sites (fan zones). Companies will be invited to provide services to spectators, athletes, officials, volunteers and workforce.
Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for commercial and customer services, said:
This is a fantastic opportunity for Dudley borough businesses to play their part in what will be a huge event for the region.
The catering contracts are expected to support approximately 2,000 jobs during Games time and will be a much welcome boost to a sector that has suffered during the global pandemic.
The first procurement for catering services is now open and businesses are invited to complete a Selection Questionnaire. The invitation to submit initial bids is timetabled for April 2021, with the final tender in May 2021. The contract will be awarded in the summer of 2021.
Interested businesses are encouraged to apply via the Birmingham 2022 Business portal at www.birmingham2022.com
