Be a thoughtful neighbour as #DudleyStaysHome

Posted on:

Dudley Council’s cabinet member for housing is reminding residents of the ongoing need to be thoughtful towards their neighbours during the pandemic.

Dudley Council has received an increase in the number of calls from people who are frustrated by noise nuisance from their neighbours and this is adding to demand placed on the local authority’s anti-social behaviour team.

The government is continuing to issue guidance of social distancing to reduce the spread of coronavirus, which is naturally resulting in people spending far more time at home than they normally would.

People with concerns are advised to speak to their neighbours in the first instance and to find an agreement on how best to live around one another during the restrictions.

Where a resolution cannot be found the council’s anti-social behaviour team is available to offer advice and support.

Councillor Laura Taylor, cabinet member for housing and communities, said:

We are all spending much more time at home than we normally would and with many people feeling anxious and uneasy there has never been a more important time to be considerate of your neighbours.
It is very important that residents continue to follow government advice, such as not inviting others from outside their household over, and I would ask people to refrain from creating a noise nuisance for others who live nearby.
Anyone who has concerns and has not been able to successfully resolve the issue with their neighbours themselves can contact our anti-social behaviour team for guidance and advice.

More information can be found on the council’s website or for further information or advice, the Anti-Social Behaviour team can be contacted through Dudley Council Plus on 0300 555 2345.
