Dudley’s popular Priory Park is set to open a new café next year and prospective business owners are being sought for the site.
The park, which receives more than 400,000 visitors a year and is a popular backdrop for weddings, is hoping to attract experienced entrepreneurs to run the brand new café.
The café will be housed in the priory pavilion building, in the north half of the park, close to Priory Hall register office, the play area, tennis courts and MUGA. The modern pavilion is set to receive a fit out, with some fittings included as part of the lease which is currently being tendered. If successful, the café would open in late spring 2019.
The cafe will be a permanent feature to the park and bids are for a five year lease. Applications are being invited from people with catering experience and an interest in community engagement.
The new café would have approximately 25 covers made up of 56sqm for the café and servery area, with additional office and storage spaces. There would be an outside courtyard dining area complete with gated patio and awning. A side gate allows access for dog walkers and the lease includes maintenance and responsibility for the adjacent toilets.

There are activities in the park throughout the year, as well as regular visits from walkers, families, people using the sports facilities and wedding parties and we believe that creating a café here will benefit users of the park and the wider community.
Dudley Council previously secured Heritage Lottery Funding and has undertaken a range of improvements to the whole site, including the restoration of the pavilion and heritage features such as the rose garden and sunken pool as well as additional interpretation of the priory ruins.
Closing date for applications is Thursday 20 December, with interviews set for January 2019.
