Street food, children’s rides and festive craft markets will feature at Christmas lights switch-on events in Dudley, Stourbridge, Halesowen and Brierley Hill this month.
The first will take place in Halesowen on Saturday (November 16) from 9am to 5.30pm. Gregory Piper, who plays troubled teen Ryan Pilkington in the hit BBC drama Line of Duty and is from the town, will be special guest.
Dudley is next on Saturday November 23, from noon to 5pm, with Brierley Hill being lit up on Friday November 29 at 5pm, but the event runs from 3pm to 6pm. The Mayor will be joined by special guests on stage for both events.
The final of the big borough lights switch-on events will be in Stourbridge on Saturday November 30 from 9am to 5pm, with characters from the children’s favourite Despicable Me films lighting up the town.
The Mayor of Dudley Councillor David Stanley said:
These wonderful events bring the community together to mark the beginning of the festive period and encourage people to shop local.
I’m delighted to be joining in with the festivities this year and look forward to meeting with our town traders and shoppers over the coming weeks.”
There will also be community-led light switch on events in the borough during November and December.
Kenchington Ltd will hold an event at Townsend Place in Kingswinford on Friday 29 November at 5pm.
The Sedgley lights event will be on December 1, at 6.30pm. Roads around Sedgley Bull Ring will be closed 1 – 8.30pm. Coseley switch on will be on December 6, from 6.45pm, with Castle Street closed from 2 – 9pm.
