Cornbow to be renamed Halesowen Town Hall

Posted on:

Cornbow Hall is to be renamed Halesowen Town Hall as part of plans to raise the profile and visibility of the building, it has been revealed.

As part of the rebrand, it will see the venue in Pool Road come under the new banner of DBhalls alongside Dudley and Stourbridge Town Halls.

This will mirror the rebrand of borough leisure centres under the single DBleisure umbrella.

Over the next few months, building signage will be replaced and directional signage will also be improved.  A new website promoting all three venues under the one overarching banner will be created, making it easier for customers to book show tickets or hire the halls.

Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise, said:

The hall is located in the heart of the town, but currently suffers from a lack of signage and presence.
As part of the work to increase its visibility and to elevate its profile as an entertainment venue alongside Dudley and Stourbridge Town Halls, it is our intention to rename the venue Halesowen Town Hall.
We have made a clear commitment to keep the venue open but we now need local people, many of whom were so passionate about the hall’s future, to get behind it.
They can do that by supporting upcoming events, or considering hiring the hall for private functions or as a venue for a community event.
We’ll also be looking to pursue new acts and shows at the hall to broaden what’s on offer and look at how we can make it more viable in the future.

The hall has a number of events lined up over the next few months as well as rooms available to hire.

Tomorrow night (Fri Oct 7) there is a Lets Rock The 70s show performed by The Subterraneans.

Choir Voices in Harmony will perform their 25th anniversary charity concert on Saturday October 15, while there is a charity dance as part of The Breast Cancer campaign on Friday October 21.

Third From The Right Productions will perform hit show Calendar Girls from Thursday November 17 to Saturday November 19.

And dearly loved cricket commentator and media personality Henry Blofeld bring his show - My Dear Old Things – on Thursday January 26.

Further details for these events are listed on the borough halls website

There are two rooms available at the town hall for hire.

The main hall has a capacity for 384 people in theatre style seating and 200 for cabaret style seating. It’s a great space for private functions such as dance shows and large parties.

There’s also the green room available, which can accommodate 60 people and is ideal for small group events such as meetings, conferences and parties.
