Council House turns purple for sexual health week

Posted on:

Dudley Council House will be lit up in purple today (Monday October 10) to mark sexual health week.

The annual awareness campaign, which runs from October 10 to 16, is delivered by sexual health and wellbeing charity Brook.

The campaign’s aim is for everyone to have access to sexual health and wellbeing services in ways that best suit them.

Dudley Council commissions its young person’s sexual health service from Brook Dudley.

Councillor Ian Bevan, cabinet member for public health, said:

We’re lighting the council house up to support national sexual health week and raise awareness of the services and support available in our borough.

Brook Dudley offers free, confidential sexual health services for people aged 24 and under. People can access contraception, emergency contraception, STI testing, free condoms and more.

Rebecca Pickerill, Clinical Manager at Brook’s Dudley service, said:

Every day we are breaking barriers in Dudley through the provision of our free, confidential sexual health services and our innovative digital approach.
We want to make sure that young people can access our services in ways that best suit them whether it's online, in person at various locations across the borough, or via telephone appointments.
