Dudley Council’s mapping team are celebrating after they won a major accolade at an industry awards ceremony.

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) team, who maintain address and street data in Dudley borough, were awarded the platinum award at the GeoPlace Exemplar Awards.

The new platinum honour is the top prize on offer at the Exemplar Awards and recognises the very highest level of data quality found in local government records.

After six consecutive years of wins at the Exemplar Awards, the addressing team’s latest accolade recognises how well Dudley maintains land, property, street and address data.

These important details are used to connect services across the council and provide residents and businesses with accurate information.

Councillor Shaun Keasey, cabinet member for commercialism and human resources, said:

This is a well-deserved new level of recognition for the GIS team, who carry out complex and important work to maintain council records.
Accurate address data is vital for the delivery of so many services in Dudley borough and I’m thrilled that these unsung heroes are being celebrated with this prestigious award.
