Council officers provide food for sheltered housing residents

Posted on:

Dudley Council officers have been delivering food parcels to elderly and vulnerable sheltered housing residents across the borough, in response to the coronavirus crisis.

People living in Netherton, Coseley, Stourbridge and Quarry Bank have received the parcels, using food from the council’s corporate landlord services catering team.

Parcels containing fresh fruit and vegetables, milkshakes, yoghurts, eggs and bread and have gone to some of the council’s most vulnerable housing tenants.

The local authorities housing team is now in the process of preparing further food parcels for those who need it most.

Councillor Laura Taylor, cabinet member for housing, communities and residents’ welfare, said:

I want to extend my personal thanks to all the officers involved in creating these food parcels and all those in the community who are playing their part in keeping people safe at home, saving lives and protecting our NHS.
These are difficult times for all of us, which is why Dudley council is working with partners around the clock to put a range of services in place to ensure that no vulnerable person in the community is left unsupported.
I would encourage anyone who is concerned for themselves, a friend or family member to get in touch through the dedicated phone lines, which we have set up to provide support where it’s needed most.
