A senior Dudley councillor has been appointed to the board of directors for Birmingham Airport.
Councillor Steve Clark, who is cabinet member for finance at Dudley Council, will take up his new position immediately. It will be an additional role to his duties with the local authority.
He will play a part in reviewing the airport’s masterplan to identify what developments are needed over the next 30 years to cope with an expected growth in passenger numbers.
Councillor Steve Clark, cabinet member for finance, said:
I’m delighted to be given this opportunity to sit on the board for the airport, and I can’t wait to get started.
Here in Dudley we have big plans and big projects on the horizon which will hopefully increase visitor numbers to the borough, which is already an attractive place to visit.
People visiting us from abroad will most likely arrive here via Birmingham Airport, so I’ll be doing all I can in my new role to ensure it serves passengers the best way it can
Seven councils in the West Midlands, including Dudley, have a 49 per cent stake in Birmingham Airport. The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan owns 48.25 per cent.
