A Dudley centre is up for a national award next week in recognition of its play facilities for children and young people.
The Dudley Council-run Sycamore Adventure has been shortlisted for the play award as part of the national Children and Young People Now awards.
Sycamore Adventure offers youngsters, regardless of their ability, the opportunity to experience indoor and outdoor play.
Outside there’s sunken trampolines, play structures, a sand pit and accessible water features.
Activities inside include a pirate soft play, which was installed earlier this year with funding from Aviva as well as sensory room, craft station and dressing up area.
The winner will be announced on Thursday November 28. The award will be given to the initiative which has done the most to encourage children and young people to play freely.
Cath Knowles, interim director for children’s services at Dudley Council, said:
It provides a safe and friendly place for them to play and is well-used and loved by the community. The fact they’ve been shortlisted demonstrates the quality of facilities on offer and I wish them all the best for next week.
