Dudley welcomes leading operators for tourism showcase

Posted on:

Dudley Council’s tourism team welcomed leading tour operators from across the UK last week (Thursday) to showcase the borough as a destination for tourists and visitors.

Around 50 coach tour operators and group travel organisers from the rest of the country made the journey to Dudley Canal and Caverns to meet with local visitor attractions, hotels and the council’s Discover Dudley team.

The guests enjoyed a boat trip along Dudley Canal and Limestone Mines and a guided tour of the Black Country Living Museum, two of the borough’s most popular places to visit.

The Mayor of Dudley was also present at the event to offer a warm welcome to the visitors and introduce them to the borough.

Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise, said:

After a challenging couple of years, we are keen to support our visitor economy. Our event has helped to raise awareness of the fantastic hotels and venues in Dudley and connect them with tour operators and travel organisers.
Our guests are leading names in their industry and we hope to welcome them and their customers back to our borough very soon.

Councillor Sue Greenaway, the Mayor of Dudley, said:

I was delighted to welcome our guests to this event and I would like to thank them for attending.
It was a pleasure to introduce them to some of the attractions, culture and history that make Dudley such an interesting place to visit.
