Festive fun filled the air in Brierley Hill this evening for the town’s Christmas light switch on event.
The event featured free children’s rides and live entertainment and children were able to visit Santa in the Brierley Hill market grotto.
The town was lit up at 5pm, when the Mayor of Dudley pushed the button alongside competition winner Kelly Pooler and her young children, Casey and Callum. Caroline Martin from WM and Father Christmas with his elves were also on stage for the big switch on.
People took advantage of free parking, which has been offered for all Dudley borough’s town centre switch on events. Free parking is also available to Christmas shoppers on Saturday 15 and 22 December.
Stourbridge town will hold its event tomorrow (1 December).
Councillor Alan Taylor, the Mayor of Dudley, said:
I was delighted to be able to switch on the Christmas lights in Brierley Hill this evening and to celebrate the start of Christmas with the town.
The town had a lovely atmosphere and I am sure the event was a welcome boost to traders and shoppers in Brierley Hill.”
