Falls prevention service in line for national award

Posted on:

A new service introduced in the borough to reduce falls and hospital admissions has been shortlisted for a national award.

The Dudley Falls Prevention Service has been nominated in the Health and Social category at the LGC Awards.

The introduction of the service has led to a significant drop in the number of falls for people aged over 65, and the lowest number of hospital admissions for hip fractures for nearly a decade.

It is a partnership between Dudley Council, Dudley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Trust.

Matt Bowsher, director of adult social care, said:

It is fantastic news that the falls prevention service has been shortlisted for a national award, and a real positive example of the power of partnership working.
By using joined up thinking and working together we have reduced the number of falls and the number of hospital admissions for people over 65.
I’d like to thank everyone at the council, the CCG and the hospital who has worked so hard on this. We’re delighted to be nominated and hopefully we can win the award.

The awards take place on March 18 next year at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London.
