Mayor announces new charities

Posted on:

The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor David Stanley, is looking forward supporting three new charities as he takes on his second year as first citizen of the borough.

Councillor Stanley has chosen three local charities that have been at the forefront of the local effort against the Covid-19 pandemic, and its effects in the community, to support during this mayoral year.

The charities are Black Country Food Bank which helps vulnerable individuals and families in crisis through the provision of emergency food and toiletry supplies while a longer-term solution is developed; St John Ambulance, Dudley, which is the nation's leading first aid charity and offers training courses, advice and volunteering opportunities and Victim Support, Dudley.

Victim Support is an independent charity that provides emotional and practical help to people who have been affected by crime.

Councillor David Stanley, Mayor of Dudley, said:

Although it is as a result of the difficult circumstances that we are currently experiencing, I am honoured and privileged to be able to represent the people of Dudley borough for a second term, as the Mayor of Dudley.
I have chosen three charities which have stood out to me over the last few months due to the key part that they have played in supporting the residents of this borough during the Covid-19 pandemic.
I much look forward to working with my three charities over the coming months, to celebrate the work that they do, and to raise much needed funds to support their work.
