Mayor applauds hard-working school catering staff

Posted on:

The Mayor of Dudley has saluted the commitment of catering staff across the borough as part of a national celebration of school meal services.

As schools across the country came together to mark National School Meals Week, the Mayor paid a visit to Mount Pleasant Primary School in Quarry Bank to meet their hard-working catering team.

She presented them with a certificate to recognise their valuable contribution to life at the school and the nutrition of its pupils.

The borough’s first citizen and her consort also dined with children and staff at the school during their lunch break.

Councillor Sue Greenaway, the Mayor of Dudley, said:

It was a pleasure to visit Mount Pleasant and meet their catering team. Their hard work and commitment means the school’s pupils can enjoy healthy meals every day.
The school catering staff in our borough do such an important job and I would like to thank them all for their very valued contributions to our children’s wellbeing.

Approximately 13,000 nutritious school meals are provided to primary and secondary school students every weekday by school catering services in Dudley borough.

Organised by LACA UK, National School Meals Week is designed to raise awareness of the school food served daily by professional caterers in school across England and Wales.
