Mayor visits Jewson

Posted on:

The Mayor of Dudley visited a builders’ merchant in the borough as part of a series of visits to members of the Mayoral Business Club.

Councillor Alan Taylor visited Jewson’s warehouses in Stourbridge Road and Peartree Lane.

The firm supplies Dudley Council with building materials for local authority homes and buildings in need of repairs.

Jewson is the main sponsor for this year’s first ever Black Country Musicom Festival at Himley Hall on Sunday July 14.

The mayor dropped by to find out more about the work the organisation does and to meet with managers and staff.

Councillor Alan Taylor, the Mayor of Dudley, said:

It was a pleasure to go down to Jewson and find out a bit more about what they do. They are delivering a great service providing materials, allowing us to complete urgent repairs quickly for tenants.
I’m grateful to Jewson for supporting the Mayoral Business Club which helps us to provide community events across the borough through their sponsorship.
I would encourage other like-minded businesses to consider joining us in the work we do.

Chris Kertland, business unit director for Jewson, said:

We really enjoyed showing the mayor around the two warehouses and it was great to get the opportunity to explain a bit more about what we do.
Joining the Mayoral Business Club has been really useful to us in terms of networking opportunities and social events, and we’re delighted to be the main sponsors of this year’s first ever Black Country Musicom Festival.

The Mayoral Business Club is made up of businesses with a keen interest in working with the council and other agencies to make the borough an attractive place to work and live.

Members of the club benefit from a range of networking events and VIP experiences and can sponsor many of the borough’s popular events such as the Civic Awards, Armed Forces Day and Himley Bonfire.
