New film released to mark Black History Month
Borough residents took a seat on the sofa and revealed what made them feel proud as part of an innovative project for Black History Month.
Dudley Council bosses took the sofa to a number of locations in the borough in October - including the Merry Hill Centre and Dudley College - and filmed nearly 40 Black residents telling their stories.
The finished video has now been released and can be watched on the council’s YouTube channel.
Despite only being released this week, it has already been viewed more than 500 times.
Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of Dudley Council, said:
We are very proud to have such a diverse community in our borough.
It’s important everyone feels they have a voice, and Black History Month gave us a fantastic opportunity to shine a light on the strong and proud Black community here in Dudley.
The final video is fantastic, a really upbeat, joyous celebration of a really important community in our borough.
