Play week is on the way

Posted on:

Fun activities, competitions and information for parents are on the way for this year’s online Play Week.

Facebook will host this year’s event from Monday August 3 to Friday August 7 with opportunities for families to take part at home.

Led by the team at Dudley Council’s Sycamore Adventure, there will be fun activities, demonstrations and competitions with prizes to win throughout the week.

There will be something for everyone, with a wide variety of specially recorded videos available for people to watch on facebook or youtube, encouraging children to get involved. Activities include den building and a campfire, baking, mindfulness, cycling training and green cross code, huge bubble making, Punch & Judy, kitemaking, fitness sessions, magic, fun disco, fencing and pom-pom making.

In addition to the activities, there will be several competitions with prizes of £50 and £25 Amazon vouchers plus a section hosting information about council services especially for families.

The outbreak of Covid-19 has meant that the usual annual visit to a different park each day of play week is not possible.

Councillor Ruth Buttery, cabinet member responsible for children and young people said:

We are encouraging families to log into our Facebook Play Week events pages to take part in as many activities as they want to, starting from Monday 3 August.
The team at Sycamore Adventure have been working hard to bring a huge range of things to do for children of all ages. There will be something fun to do for everyone.

To join in the fun visit the council’s Facebook events sections @dudleyborough and @adventureplay
