Pop-up tip bookings now open

Posted on:

People can now book their appointment at the next pop-up tip in Dudley.

The booking system for the facility at Lister Road on December 17 is now live.

People can dispose of their household waste including mattresses and furniture.

But council bosses have asked people to make sure they cancel their booking if they no longer need it on the day, after 60 people failed to show for their appointment on November 19.

Councillor Shaz Saleem, cabinet member for highways and public realm, said:

The pop-up tip continues to be a success and people can now book online for the next one. But I would urge anyone who no longer wants a slot that they have booked to cancel it. This opens up more slots for people who really need them.

Out of the 199 people who visited the site earlier this month, 182 were from the north of the borough, which is 91 per cent.

The pop-up service runs on the third Saturday of every month from 8am to 3.30pm.

Visitors need to book their trip in advance using the nationally recognised booking system www.dudley.gov.uk/residents/bins-and-recycling/household-waste-recycling-centre

Items that can be dropped off at the pop-up site include green waste, wood, scrap metal, small electrical items, residual waste, bricks, rubble, plasterboard, household waste, general recycling, carpets, underlay and now mattresses and furniture.

Oils and hazardous waste will not be accepted.
