Residents encouraged to take up booster jab

Posted on:

Dudley Council’s cabinet member for public health is urging people to take up their vaccine booster when invited.

The statement comes after the government announced new measures in response to the Omicron variant.

Residents can also continue to play their part by following simple steps such as wearing a face covering, keeping distance where possible, good and hygiene, allowing fresh in when indoors, taking regular lateral flow tests and getting a PCR test when displaying symptoms.

Councillor Nicolas Barlow, cabinet member for public health and adult social care, said:

Yesterday the government announced some new measures to try and reduce the transmission of the Omicron variant and we know everyone in Dudley will keep pulling together in order to protect our communities.
Sadly covid-19 continues to present a significant risk to our communities and loved ones, but we are pleased to see a good uptake of booster jabs in Dudley borough.
People who are still yet to get vaccinated can be assured that it’s not too late to have a first or second dose and we are asking people to come forward for their booster when contacted. Taking this small step will help to reduce the risk of serious illness from Covid-19 while helping to protect your friends and family.
We are continuing to encourage people to also take other measures such as wearing face coverings, keeping distance where possible, letting fresh air in when indoors and to keep on testing – PCR when you have symptoms no matter how mild or LFT when you are symptom free.
Now more than ever we are asking people be kind to yourselves and others.
