On Sunday November 8 the civic Remembrance Day service will be broadcast on radio and online for residents to follow from their homes.

Due to current social distancing guidelines Dudley Council is encouraging borough residents to remember at home this year and mark the commemoration with a two-minute silence on their doorstep at 11am.

Residents can follow the service, including the two-minute silence, online via the ‘Dudley borough’ Facebook page from 10.45am, or listen to the service on Black Country Radio on 102.5 FM, or online at blackcountryradio.co.uk

Councillor David Stanley, Mayor of Dudley, said:

Remembrance Sunday gives residents of the borough the opportunity to give thanks and pay tribute to all those who serve, or have served in the armed forces, and pay their respects to all who have made the supreme sacrifice for their country.
Sadly, we cannot come together as one this year but that doesn’t mean that we can’t remember in our own way. The act of remembrance is a very personal thing and there are many ways to remember those who we are thankful for and those we have lost.
As well as participating in the two-minute silence from your doorstep, The Royal British Legion have suggested other ways to remember this year which can be found at www.britishlegion.org.uk/get-involved/remembrance

The Memorial to the Fallen of World War I at the Clock Tower in Priory Street, Dudley is open Monday to Friday for people to pay their respects.

A giant cross has also been put in Dudley Market Place , where people can place poppies and leave personal tributes to those who have lost their lives.
