St George's Day 2020

Posted on:

The council will recognise St George’s Day next week by raising the patron saint’s flag on the council house.

The flag will be flown at the council house and on the castle at Dudley Zoo on Thursday April 23.

The planned council celebration to be hosted at the Zoo has been cancelled, due to the closure of the Zoo grounds, as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak.

The council’s facebook page will be open for people to post what celebrations are taking place in people’s homes and gardens.

Councillor David Stanley, Mayor of Dudley, said:

In the true Black Country spirit, I hope that borough residents will take the opportunity to mark St George’s Day in a modest way in their own homes.
Photos of any celebrations will be a welcome addition to the facebook page and shared with the online @Dudleyborough community.
I would like to remind you that you need to stay at home, save lives and protect the NHS.

Dudley Zoo has contacted all people who had bought tickets for the St George’s Day event to arrange refunds.
