Essential maintenance to payments
Due to essential maintenance of Dudley Council's payments system, no credit and debit card payments will be possible from 09:30 on Wednesday 19th February (including Callpay, online payments and card payments via DMBC Offices including Dudley Council Plus). It is hoped that work will be completed by the end of Wednesday 19th February at the very latest. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Dudley borough residents can sign up to Dudley Council’s Big Switch and save cash on their home energy bills.
Residents have another chance to save money this winter as registration is now open until 11 February 2019 for the council run Big Switch.
Big Switch has been running for several years and growing in popularity as a result of the great savings that can be made on home gas and electricity bills. Energy bill savings of up to £300 a year are typically made when registering for the Big Switch and market leading deals are on offer, not available elsewhere.
With gas and electricity bills on the rise and research indicating that people are reluctant to switch because they find it too confusing, the Big Switch is the perfect solution. Part of a national government initiative, the Big Switch scheme sees councils coming together and taking part in a collective energy switching auction. By joining together they are able to get the very best energy deals through the power of bulk buying.
Households on a standard variable tariff are likely to see significant savings through the Big Switch. Suggestions are that the energy prices will continue to rise throughout this year, so it’s well worth getting the very best deal possible.
To register with Dudley’s Big Switch, visit the council’s website – www.dudley.gov.uk/bigswitch. Alternatively people can register simply and easily by calling Dudley Council Plus on 0300 555 2345, they will then be guided through the simple process. They will need to have their current tariff details and fuel usage (shown on their most recent bill) to hand.
This auction will run until 11 February 2019 and then people will have the option of switching energy supplier to the company offering the very best deal. There is however no obligation to do switch.
Councillor Keiran Casey, cabinet member for housing and residents welfare, said:
As we are in the winter months and energy bills rise, it’s time to register for the Big Switch.
Switching energy providers maybe confusing for some residents, so we try and make the process as simple as possible. It’s easy to register, clear instructions are provided and if you decide to change supplier, the switching is all handled for you.
The Big Switch is just one of the ways we help our residents to save money and keep warm this winter.”
The Big Switch is open to all householders, including people living in rented accommodation, those with a prepayment meter and people with a fuel debt of up to £500 or less.
Since the scheme began in Dudley in June 2013 the collective savings made by borough residents has topped over half a million pounds.
