Wedding winners scout out borough venue
A love struck couple who met whilst volunteering as Wollescote Scout Leaders have won a dream wedding at the Thomas Robinson Building in Stourbridge.
Michelle Taylor, aged 35 from Quarry Bank, and Ricky Bate, aged 47 from Stourbridge, won a prize draw when they attended a recent wedding fair at the Dudley Council venue.
The couple, who have been together for two years and live in the Stourbridge area, now plan to tie the knot there in September 2020.
Bride to be, Michelle said:
We couldn’t believe it when we had the call to say we had won. We are so excited and we have always said it is a lovely building where we would like to get married.
I’m expecting a baby in February so it will be great to have a venue that is close to home, it will be a really special day.
Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for procurement, transformation and commercialisation, said:
I would like to offer my congratulations to Michelle and Ricky on winning a wedding at one of our fantastic venues.
It is great to see a couple who have volunteered and given so much to their local community through the Scouts getting something back.
I would encourage anyone who is getting married to take a look at the Thomas Robinson Building, which has been renovated and offers the perfect place to take vows.
