Welcome back to Lye

Posted on:

Black Country Radio are hosting a multicultural celebration event in Lye on Saturday 12 March.

The event, which runs from 10am-3pm on Lye High Street, outside the church, will feature live entertainment, cookery demonstrations and will be broadcast throughout the day by Black Country Radio.

The day is part of the Welcome Back campaign to encourage people back into town centres and support local businesses as the country emerges from the pandemic.

Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise, said:

These events are a really positive, practical way for people to enjoy returning to our town centres.
Black Country Radio are co-ordinating these events which have a real community focus, with two multicultural events at Brierley Hill and Lye as well as a mother’s day event at Halesowen and I hope shoppers will come along to one of these events and show their support for local businesses

The community radio station has organised a number of events in town centres across the borough including a multicultural event in Brierley Hill on March 19. There will be a Mother’s Day event in Halesowen on March 26. All events run from 10am to 3pm.

The Welcome Back Fund is providing councils across England a share of £56 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to support the safe return to high streets and help build back better from the pandemic.
