Swimmers in Dudley are being urged to take the plunge and learn lifesaving skills with a nationally recognised training course.
Dudley Council is offering the Royal Life Saving Society lifeguard course at Dudley Leisure Centre on Wellington Road.
The course, which can pave the way for a new career and equips people with essential skills, will run from 10am to 8pm from Monday 16 December to Thursday 19 December, with an exam taking place on Saturday 21 December.
People must be aged 16 or over to take a place and will be expected to take a prearranged swimming test before the start.
Participants will receive a course manual and special tuition upon enrolment and those who complete it successfully will get an official lifeguard qualification and certificate.
Alan Lunt, deputy chief executive at Dudley Council, said:
This fantastic course gives people the opportunity to acquire new skills and could open the gateway to a new career.
Spaces are limited and it is very popular so we would encourage anyone interested to sign up as soon as possible.
The course costs £220 and spaces must be pre-booked with a deposit required to secure a place. The remaining balance is to be paid before the course starts.
