We are committed to helping borough residents keep affordably warm and snug in their homes, particularly through the winter months. We have a number of schemes, initiatives and programmes all aimed at helping keep local people warm and healthy at home.
For many people it’s a struggle to keep their home warm enough during winter and each year thousands of people die as a result of being cold in their homes. Older people, young and those with long term illnesses are particularly vulnerable.
Our winter warmth scheme has been developed specifically to help people stay warm and well in their homes during winter. The service provides expert advice on energy bills and schemes, including free home energy advice visits to help people save money, advice on tariffs, discounts and grants as well as useful tips to keep your home affordably warm. We can even provide free home insulation and new energy efficient boilers to qualifying homes.
Anyone concerned about getting cold themselves, or worried about a friend, relative or neighbour can call and request free assistance.
