West Midlands Metro is the light rail system for the West Midlands. It run between Birmingham and Wolverhampton via West Bromwich, Bilston and Wednesbury.

It operates seven days a week with a 'turn up and go' every eight minutes during the day and every 15 minutes during the evenings and Sundays.

23 stops serve the route - and four have Park and Ride facilities.

Wednesbury to Brierley Hill Metro Extension

The 11km extension will branch off the current West Midlands Metro line just east of the Wednesbury Great Western Street Metro stop. It will then go through Tipton and Dudley on its way to Brierley Hill. There are plans for up to 16 Metro stops on the route.

Investigations are taking place as to whether sections of the route can run using batteries rather than traditional overhead wires. An extra Metro depot will be needed to house the extended fleet of trams that will run services on all of the planned extensions.
