Self-advocacy is encouraging people to speak up for themselves and to represent their own interests where as Citizen advocacy is where an advocate works with a person with a learning disability to help them to speak up for what they want.
Dudley currently commissions support for Self and Citizen Advocacy for people with Learning Disabilities through Dudley Voices for Choice.

Self advocacy is when a person speaks up for themselves and things that are important to them.
Dudley Voices for Choice empowers people with learning disabilities and/or autism to speak up.
Support workers work with members to become more confident and included in decision making.
Dudley Voices for Choice attends meetings held by different organisations including the local council and health authority. This helps them to work in an inclusive way.
