Enabling community support service

The enabling community support service provides a range of practical help, advice and support to older people, aged 60 plus, in their homes. It is intended for people who live at home but who need a little extra support on a short term basis, to live independently, happily and successfully.

Support provided might help to:

  • improve health, hygiene and wellbeing
  • improve an individuals financial situation including money management
  • boost confidence
  • address loneliness
  • develop independent living skills
  • provide support to meet a person's spiritual or faith needs

The service also offers a useful holiday visiting service, when family members are away.  (excluding support with any nursing duties, personal hygiene, cleaning or shopping duties).

You can find out more information on this service in our booklet:

Am I eligible?

To be eligible for the service a person must be a Dudley borough resident aged 60 or above.

How much does it cost?

There is currently no charge and anyone meeting the criteria can ask for help from the team. The service can also be requested by family members, friends, a person's GP or social worker.

What is the process?

A tailored assessment and support plan will be produced for each individual, in partnership with them. This will state how often support officers will visit, for how long and what help and support will be provided to help the person.

Do you feel lonely or isolated?

Please to meet you is about helping you stay positive in later life and providing a helping hand to get out about and enjoy life.

Together we can help overcome the fear of stepping into the community you want to be involved in or even create something new.
