Independent Living Fund (ILF)

The Independent Living Fund (ILF) closed on 30 June 2015 and responsibility for supporting current ILF recipients was transferred to local authorities.

The change is designed to ensure that all social care support is delivered through one mainstream system. In determining future levels of support our approach is that a single assessment would identify the funding levels appropriate to meet individual care and support needs.

If you receive the Independent Living Fund and live in the Dudley borough, Dudley Council will have written to you to explain what happens next.

The council is committed to the aims of the ILF which is to ensure that people with disabilities are supported to live independently. This commitment and approach is further underpinned by the requirements of the Care Act and its underlying key principles.
