Since April 2009 a new framework for inspecting safeguarding and looked after children’s services across the country has been in force
The Ofsted inspections, revised in light of the Baby Peter tragedy, will evaluate how council and partner agencies are working to ensure children and young people are properly safeguarded and determine the quality of services provided for looked after children and care leavers.
They will look at how the council and partners are meeting statutory responsibilities and contributing to improving outcomes for children and young people, along with the quality of plans in place to deliver improvements.
These inspections happen every three years and, although announced, we receive just two weeks notice.
We don’t know when ours will be, but we want to make sure everyone involved in services for children are ready.
