Welcome to Dudley Council's adoption homepage. Here you can find out about the process of adoption, who can adopt and most importantly how you can become a child's 'forever family'.
Adoption is giving a child or children permanent home. When you adopt you become the legal parents, all the rights and responsibilities of caring for a child becomes yours. Unlike fostering you will not receive an allowance although you will be entitled to apply for relevant state benefits like any other parent. If you choose to adopt a child with disabilities or a sibling group there may be some means tested financial support.
Adoption is a way of providing new families for children who are unable to live with their own parents or relatives. It's not always plain sailing, but raising cheldren never is. We will support you pre and post adoption. It is important to remember that you are not alone.
Making the decision to adopt is momentous and we understand you will need as mush information and advice as possible before making a final decision.
