Dudley Children and Young People's Alliance

Dudley Children and Young People Alliance (CYPA) provides the overall leadership and integrated accountability for delivery of improved outcomes for children and young people in Dudley, and their effective transition to adulthood.

Dudley is a place where children and young people thrive

The CYPA represents a new way of working together and in collaboration with children, young people and families.  It has specific responsibility for delivering and monitoring the priorities for improvement set out in the Dudley Children and Young People’s Alliance Strategy.

The Alliance's work will contribute to the Health and Wellbeing Board vision:

Longer, safer, healthier lives for all

Key principles

The Alliance and organisations which are part of the Alliance will:

  • Raise children and young people’s aspirations and create opportunities for them to achieve
  • Enable children and young people to have a voice
  • Work with children and young people to keep them safe and healthy
  • Work with children and young people when they need extra help to ensure they get the help they need.

A new way of working

Working together as an Alliance means that members agree to work together in a spirit of co-operation to advance common goals. This includes:

  • Every Board member is an equal and active partner and will work collectively together.
  • The interests of the Alliance have precedence over those of individual organisations and members.
  • The Alliance will have a relentless focus on improving outcomes for children and young people and is committed to demonstrating the impact of this work.
  • Joint commissioning of services will be encouraged wherever this enhances coherence and improves efficiency.

The Alliance reports to the Dudley Health and Wellbeing Board.

Priorities 2017 - 2019

Using evidence from the Joint Strategic Assessment, the Health and Wellbeing Board’s Strategy has identified three goals for 2017-2022:

  • Healthy weight
  • Reducing the effects of poverty
  • Reducing loneliness and isolation

The Alliance Board members have agreed their commitment to collectively contributing to the achievement of these goals using a whole systems approach.

These will be addressed via seven transformational programmes that the Alliance will monitor and review on a regular basis:

  1. Voice of the child/young person
  2. Community resilience
  3. Emotional health and wellbeing
  4. Early help
  5. Employment and training
  6. Disabilities and special needs
  7. Healthy weight

The outcomes framework and delivery plan contained within the strategy set out what the Alliance wants to achieve and details the specific programmes of work.
