Sheltered Housing and Support to Live Independently

Sheltered housing

Sheltered Housing is a term used to describe self-contained flats available to people over 55 years and combines the privacy of your own home with the peace of mind of 24 hour emergency assistance via Dudley Telecare.

The Council has 11 specially-built schemeswhere services offered are tailored to suit the needs of the individual.

Each scheme provides a range of communal facilities including a lounge, kitchen, laundry, communal gardens and guest bedroom.

Our aim is to help people live fulfilled independent lives within a safe, secure, homely environment with the encouragement of a Supported Living Co-ordinator based at each location.

Shared Lives

Shared Lives is an innovative housing option for people with care or support needs, such as learning disabilities. In Shared Lives a Shared Lives foster carer shares their home and family with an adult who needs care or support to help them to live well. Carers can offer long term support, respite or short term care, or purely daytime support. There are lots of options to suit people’s own families and circumstances.

People are increasingly choosing Shared Lives over other forms of care because it is a unique way to live well and I independently, but not alone. The goal is always an ordinary family life, where everyone gets to contribute and is an active member of the family.
