Body of Persons Approval (BOPA’s) - Children and Young Persons Act 1963, 37(3)(b)
In certain circumstances Dudley Council will consider issuing a Body of Persons Approval providing the organisation meets the criteria for application and the council is satisfied the organisations has clear, robust and well embodied policies for safeguarding children.
The BOPA exemption approves an organisation to put on performances involving children without requiring them to be individually licensed by their own councils, as it covers all children irrespective of the area they live in. It is particularly useful for organisations putting on shows, competitions, festivals etc. involving large numbers of children.
Dudley MBC’s guidance booklet explains the process for applying for a BOPA for performances taking place within Dudley boundaries. If after reading the booklet, you would like to discuss any aspects of the guidance, please contact the Child Employment Officer.
Alternatively, if you would like to apply to Dudley for a Body of Persons, complete the BOPA application form and BOPA contract of agreement below.
Note: There are separate forms to download below for organisers of festivals, events and competition’s. The organisation should complete the BOPA events application form and Contract of agreement and ask all groups participating in their event to complete the Group participation information form.
Completed forms and a copy of your organisations Child Protection Policy can be emailed to: email@example.com
