Dudley Virtual School is currently involved in the Attachment Aware Schools Project.
Dudley is working on this exciting project with:
4 other Local Authorities (Bath, Haringey, Leicester and Stoke),
The Institute for Recovery from Childhood Trauma (IRCT) and
Kate Cairns Associates (KCA)
This pilot project aims to support schools in promoting positive mental health and resilience in their pupils and so support looked after and vulnerable children across the Borough. This part of the initiative is a pilot which is aimed to inform the roll-out of a national programme.
A flier describing the Project can be downloaded at the bottom of this page. It explains how you, your school and the children on your roll could benefit.
All Dudley Schools were invited to express an interest in taking part by 15th May 2015. They will be expected to:
Attend the ‘Attachment Aware Schools Ignition Conference’ in January for the whole school
Take part in training on ‘Emotion Coaching: Helping children and young people to manage their own behaviour’ for the whole school during the first half of Spring Term 2016
Identify staff members to be ‘Emotion Coaching Champions’
Receive support sessions with colleagues from school Counselling, Educational & Clinical Psychology Teams
Opt-in to online CPD tools provided by Kate Cairns Associates
Collect data for a small sample of case study children and young people
Attend a ‘Wrap-Up Conference’ at the end of first year of project in January 2017
One secondary school, 3 primary schools and one special school were randomly selected from submissions made. Unsuccessful schools will have the opportunity to access the materials and training offered at a later stage and also benefit from the findings of the pilot.
If your school is interested in taking part please download the further information, complete the Expression of Interest Form below and return it to the Virtual School at firstname.lastname@example.org.
