The Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) which acts as a forum between business and local government has initiated a project to help guide businesses through the planning and development process in the Black Country. Dudley MBC fully endorses this project and has been working on it with the other Local Planning Authorities in the Black Country.
Over 200 business leaders, planning agents and developers have already been approached to take part in an online survey to seek their views on the planning and development process in the Black Country and to welcome suggestions on ways to become more ‘business friendly’. A customer focus group has also been staged to draw out emerging themes from the survey to help shape the new business friendly approach.
The results from the customer engagement work undertaken as part of the review identified that the Black Country authorities were starting from a reasonably good standard in terms of service delivery as customers believed that the planning and development services were either ‘easy’ or ‘very easy’ to access and cited many examples of good practice. The four authorities are working on an improvement action plan and Dudley is committed to continuing its pro-active and positive approach to making further improvements and seeking customer engagement and feedback.
