One of the main roles of the Road Safety Team is to to reduce the number and severity of road traffic casualties that occur. We do this through education, publicity, and training.

Our aims are to help reduce the number and severity of road traffic casualties and to raise awareness of the way people travel.  We encourage people to examine their current mode of travel and consider its effect on the environment and their own health and well being.

We actively encourage Cycling throughout Dudley, find out more using this link.

Road safety education

Road Safety is a vital part of every child's education. Our role is to support schools in providing this through education and training on the whole range of curriculum subjects. Support may be in the form of resources and lesson plans, practical training, special events or class visits.

Junior road safety

Give your children an improved sense of road safety.

Road safety for Post 16 students

If you are aged 16 and above and interested in pre-driver training or any other aspects of road safety, then we can help you.

Road safety: Pedestrian crossings

A pedestrian crossing is a place designated for pedestrians to cross a road.

School Travel Plan

School Travel Plans (STPs) are the ideal way for schools to formalise their commitment to providing a safe and sustainable environment for their pupils. An STP can identify the travel problems faced by a school and set out to find practical solutions to them, for example reducing congestion outside the school, and can help to promote active methods of travel for school journeys such as walking and cycling.

School Crossing Patrol Service

Dudley's School Crossing Patrol Service plays a vital role in ensuring the safety of children on their journeys to and from school.

Minibus safety

Passenger carrying vehicles include cars / MPVs, minibuses and larger buses.

Personal injury caused by accident on footway or carriageway

While we are not liable for every slip, trip or accident that occurs in Dudley, if an individual sustains a personal injury or damage to their property, which they believe to have been caused by our failure to comply with section 41 of The Highways Act 1980, they may submit a claim for compensation.
