A council gritting team is thanking community minded residents for their help during periods of heavy ice and snow.
The Dudley Council service has released a video highlighting the vital role volunteers play during the winter period.
The video promotes the council’s snow busters initiative, which provides local groups and individuals with winter packs as part of the Dudley Deal.
The free packs enable community spirited residents to grit and clear pathways, pavements and pedestrian areas during periods of bad weather. They include free shovels, salt spreaders, high-visibility vests, bags of special salt and advice on snow clearing.
Dudley council has a team of 60 winter service workers who work in shifts around the clock to monitor the weather for any expected plunge in temperatures or snowfall and help to keep almost 300 miles of roads clear.
During the last three years, 220 snow busters packs have been issued to residents and groups who have committed to help others in their area.
