Dudley Grand Prix Cycling

Dudley will be welcoming British Cycling's exciting Dudley Grand Prix event to the town centre on Friday 12 July.

This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Dudley on a national stage during the Black Country Festival. Some roads around the Council House will be closed, but we are making our car parks in the town centre free of charge on the day - so come and join in the fun!

The event, which is part of the men's and women's national circuit series, is expected to attract some of the UK's biggest cycling stars.

Race day will begin at 4pm with a social community ride running for an hour to give families the chance to cycle through the circuit. The community ride is sponsored by Jewson.

From 5pm until around 5.50pm there will be under 12s, under 14s and under 16s racing, with the regional amateur race starting at 6pm. The under 12s race is sponsored by Fieldings Auctioneers.

The women's national circuit series race is due to get under way at 7pm, before the event concludes with the open national circuit series race which starts at 8pm.

The start and finish of all races will be on Priory Road by Dudley College, where you'll find refreshment stalls and entertainment.

If you live or work on the route

We have sent a letter to residents and businesses who are located on or near the route of the Dudley Grand Prix with details of how the event will affect them.

The letter also contains information on changes to traffic during the Dudley Pride event on Saturday 20 July and major cabling works in the town centre from Sunday 21 July to Sunday 1 September.

More details on these planned road closures are available on our traffic page.

You can find a full list of closures for Dudley Pride and the Dudley Grand Prix under Dudley in the short-term works section. Changes to traffic conditions during the cabling works are listed in the long-term works section.

Parking arrangements

To help more people to enjoy the event, the council-run car parks on Stafford Street, Tower Street, Wolverhampton Street and Pitfield Street in Dudley town centre will be free of charge from 7pm on Thursday 11 July to 8am on Saturday 13 July.

There will be no street parking allowed from 12.01am to 11.59pm on Saturday 12 July. If you regularly park on these roads, you will need to find alternative parking. No home deliveries will be permitted.

All parking spaces on Castle Street and New Street, including disabled and taxi bays, will be suspended on the day of the event.

Changes to bus services

Temporary bus stops will be provided on Castle Street and New Street during the Dudley Grand Prix. The existing stops on Tower Street will remain in place.

Transport for West Midlands, National Express West Midlands, and Diamond Buses staff will be on hand to advise travellers on the day of the event.
